Stay out later, longer with our biggest chimenea

The bigger the chimenea, the more heat you get. This is the XL Asteria chimenea from our good friends at Gardeco. It’s made from special clay called Chimalin AFC, eight years in development and a revolutionary material. While standard clay chimeneas need careful treatment to avoid heat stress and cracking, this clay is much stronger but looks exactly the same. The finish on the one in the photo is a pale peach natural clay colour, which goes well with the grey garden dining set above, and there are other colours available including a soft green glaze with a high shine.

It comes with a rain lid and strong steel stand whose three legs keep it stable, even when the ground isn’t perfectly flat. If you’re having a small gathering that doesn’t merit lighting up your enormous BBQ – which comes next – this chimenea doubles as a cooker. You can set a cast iron cooking pot on top of the chimney, sit a separate grill inside, use toasting forks and waffle irons and more, giving you all sorts of scope for fabulous food.

This one runs on wood, charcoal or coal. It’s a Mexican design and made in Mexico, which means the performance is superior to ordinary chims. Once the fat clay body heats up it works like a big radiator, throwing heat out around itself for a toasty ambience.
